CME ON CORNEAL TRANSPLANTATION
A CME on cornea was organized by DR. BASHIR’S EYE CARE AND RESEARCH CENTRE in which three corneal transplantation surgeries (keratoplasty) were done in a live surgery session. This was done with the help and support of Dr. Umang Mathur Director of Shroff’s Charitable Eye Hospital, New Delhi. The surgery session was followed by a CME on corneal diseases which was attended by the local ophthalmologists. Previously corneal transplantation surgeries were done at this hospital in 2005 for the first time in the valley. In view of non availability of donor eyes, patients requring corneal transplatation had to go outside the vallley for surgery. However with the availability of donor corneas in the hospital, this sugical facility now available in the valley.
